I had an incredible experience today. When I picked Kayden up from school he began to tell me a story about something that had happen to him. I will try to recall it the best that I can.
He told me that he had an incident at school last week. He was swinging at recess. He thought it would be cool to jump off the swing. A kid in his grade came up and said that he could do something better. The kid proceed to show off and said that he was more cooler then Kayden....As if that were even possible.
The kid left and Kayden and his friends continued to swing. He then returned and started swinging sideways. Which Kayden informed me that it was against the rules. He tried to hit one of Kayden's friends with the swing. Kayden then threw the swing back at the kid and hit him in the head with it. The kid went and told the teacher of which Kayden said that he got in trouble.
He then proceed to tell me that about a week later he was reading the Friend. It was talking about how you should never make fun of people or hurt or call them names. He then remembered back to the swing incident. He told me that he decided to pray to Heavenly Father. He said that he heard a voice tell him to repent. He still felt bad and said he decided to pray again. When he was done praying, he secretly told Heavenly Father that he would go and tell the kid that he was sorry.
Today was that day. Kayden said that he was scared to go talk to this kid because he was kind of a bully. The first time he saw him he didn't go up to him. After school, he saw him coming down the stairs. Kayden stopped the kid and told him that he was sorry for throwing the swing at him. The kid said that it was OK and it didn't bother him anymore.
I sat there amazed. What an example he is to me. I think that most adults have trouble saying that they are sorry and here my 10 year old was doing exactly what he has been taught. I told him how proud I was of him that he had the courage to do what is right. His face was gleaming with joy. I'm so impressed at how in tuned he is to the spirit. What a great missionary he will make one day. KAYDEN, YOU ROCK!!!!!
