Home Alone

Yesterday we had quiet the experience. I don't remember the last time I felt such a enormous feeling of fear. As you read on don't think that how could someone do such a stupid thing. We use to think the same thing until yesterday. Saturday is a pretty busy day for us. Tyson and Kayden both play flag football and Tyler is Kayden's coach. This Saturday Tyler had a service project doing some painting before the games. He got home just at the time when we needed to leave. The only problem was that I had misplaced my car keys. After we looked for a minute I told Tyler to just get them to their games and I would come when I found my keys. I was in my room and Easton came in crying. I just kept looking all over on the main floor. I finally went out to the garage and called onstar to open the door for me. I had a spare set in the car that I would just use so that I wouldn't be too late. When the door opened I threw Easton in his car seat and we were off. I was already 10 minutes late so I didn't want to waste much time. Tyson and Kayden played at the same time and because Tyler was coaching Kayden someone needed to be there to watch Tyson. Tyson loves to look over and smile at you when ever he does something great. I got to the game just in time. Tyson played so great. He pulled several flags and ran the ball in for a touch down. I was glad that I found away to get there so that I got to see it.
After the game we headed over to get pictures taken. Tyson asked me if Braxton was at his game to see his touch down. I told him that he missed it because he was with dad. The pictures were being taken over by the playground. Braxton loves the games because of the playground. Kayden and Tyler joined us in line for the pictures. I asked Tyler if Braxton was at the playground and he said probably. When it was their turn I left and walked over to the playground. I scanned the kids and there was no sign of Braxton. I started to stare at the empty park in hope of seeing him running around. My head started to think back to earlier. I never saw who had left with Tyler. I rushed back over to ask Tyler. I asked him if he brought Braxton to the park with him. He said NO, I left him there with you. My heart dropped. We left our three year old at home by himself for the past hour and a half. We both rushed to our cars. I tried calling everyone in the neighborhood. No one would answer the phone. I finally got our friend on the phone who said that she had seen him with another kid for the neighborhood about five minutes ago. At this time Tyler was almost home. All we could do when we got home was hold him and tell him we loved him.
Braxton's side of the story: Daddy is gone and Mom and Kayden and Tyson and Easton. And I was so so so so scared. Jordan babysit me.
When Tyler go home Braxton told him that he left him and that it was OK because Jordan Baby sat me. Jordan is 4. I guess he was mad that Tyler would not take him with him so he went upstairs to play video games. He eventually came down to find no one and no cars. He went outside upset and scared and sat at the curb with his hands in his face. The neighbors drove by and their little boy Jordan saw Braxton and decided to head down to our house to play. When Braxton told him that he was left home alone Jordan said that he would babysit him. They ate chips, played with Kaydens things and roamed the nieghborhood. I am just greatful that he was OK and in good hands. I can't describe the feeling that I felt rush over me when I relized that he was not with us. Let's just say that we will be triple checking with each other before we leave the house to make sure all are accounted for.
A picture of Braxton on his day of bravery.
